VW Golf/Rabbit MK I

Hi!

I've just started a new VW build, this time a Golf Mk I. Here's how I'll try to make it look like when done:



The decals are homemade and the checkered roof will be done using a homemade decal as well. It'll have GTI sport seats and maybe some tuning parts on the engine...??? 

the project is good , i love it  

cool and very nice project!!! I love it too!

but the front Wheels and tyres are very small as rear !is no good for me but it's my choise!! 

beginn quickly I will see it.

Here's what I started with:

I had to modify the Wheels to go with stock front tires. 1 mm less offset and Another 2 mm will be cut from the back!



And a first mockup (It'll have a Little less rake when finished):

Today is "L-Day"....L as in lowering...the front suspension. Here's a Little "how-to", THE HARD WAY!

More Pictures. I've modified the Engine, making it 2 mm lower so I can munt it a bit higher in the enginebay. I also had to modify the gearbox a bit , that's why there's a loose part in the Pictures.

The final Picture shows the stance.

I see then i inspiring you for your VW project! Your is mold in white, lucky guy, mine is in yellow!

Your look to be very more aggresive look then mine!

I had to modify the front inner fenders as I'm moving the Engine upwards about 2".Where the red markings are, is where I took away material.

I also modified the enginemounts. The one going forward towards the radiator had a "Z" done to it.


The right side enginemount was extended about 3 mm but will be shorted a Little when times come to mount the Engine.

I just found a Turbo in my parts-box so.... Turbo it is! Here are a couple of more pic's.

Here's a mockup on Wheels....not exactly as low as I want (yet...) but the difference from a stock height one is noticable:

This afternoon I changed all 4 tires and finally got the stance I was aiming for! Here's how it looks now:



Next move is to build all the Turbo gadgets!

Your look mto have a more racing look!!! Very nice!!! But me my "low ryder" suspension is very simple, i simple glue the wheels out of the suspension pins!  

Well, this is supposed to be kind of a "hoodride" Golf.... But also have some racing look to it!

This evening I put some putty to the gearbox.



I modified the stock headers and put on an adapter plate for the Turbo  

I also modified the Turbo a Little to get the right look

I "sectioned" and narrowed the injectionpart to make it sit closer to the Engine

From a piece of scrapped radiator I made an intercooler

  you'll leave us a racing machine, you have a good mount   

I woke up early this morning and Went straight to my hobbyroom where I did the following things:

* I glued bottom and top pieces to the intercooler

* I glued 4 "bolts" to one of the adapters for the turbo

* I modified the Turbo to make it fit into the holes that will be drilled in the two adapters (see black markings)

Yeah, I did a quick start on this one but now I'm at work for 5 days, then I'll be celebrating my birthday all weekend, so, I won't be able to continue this build until wednesday NEXT week! But, duing all this time I'm into a lot of planning and researching!
